simultaneous i/o cb-68lp

Hello all,
I'm trying to figure out how to get simultaneous analog i/o with an ni cb-68lp board.  Is this even possible?  If so, how?

Thanks,
Joe

Joe:

I think the cb-68 is just a connector break out box that accomodates many different DAQ cards. Do you know the model number of the DAQ card itself?

Hai, i just bought a CB-68LP Connector but i don't understand where the input (pin number) is and where the ouput (pin number) is  . I have searched through NI site about the pin information, number of channel but i  can not find it.

For instance i want to measure a DC Voltage from power supply ex 12 Volt. And i want to acquire that voltage to my computer through CB-68LP. What pin i have to use to connect +12V and ground?

ANyway, my model number of DAQ is 184479E-02. Thank alot you for your information.

The connections you use depend on the DAQ board and the documentation that came with the DAQ board explain the pinout. The CB-68 is just a dumb terminal block. There is a 1:1 correspondance between the pins on the CB-68LP and the pins of the DAQ. You provided a part number instead of a model number (i.e. PCI-6225) and I have no way of cross-referencing that.

I hope you bought a DAQ board that has the input range necessary for +12V.

Hi Joe,

The part number that you listed is for the PCI-6601 which is a timing and digital I/O device.  It includes 32 digital I/O channels and 4 counter/timers.  You will not be able to do analog I/O with this card.  However, you can find the pinouts on in the NI 660x User Manual on page 3-4.

If you are interested in a data acquisition card for analog I/O, please look at the following webpage:

You can select different options to narrow down the cards to one that will work best for you.  If you have further questions, please post back.

Thank you for your informationn and answers but i still confuse about the difference analog I/O and Digital I/O. Is that mean the pci 6601 can not measure the analog input? Does pci 6601 have ADC (Analog to Digital Converter)?

Yesterday, i tried to measure a room temperatur with termocouple (T Type). I connected the Termocouple to the CB-68LP (dumb terminal block) and i use DAQ Assistant in Labview. But when i opened the properties of DAQ Assistant and then i clicked analog input, there was no physical channel supported. What should i do so that the analog voltage from termocouple can be obtained?

Please help me for this problem. Thanks alot.

The difference between Analog and Digital.

No, your board does not have an ADC. If it did, it would be capable of analog input and as already explained, you do not have analog input capability with that board. The only way for you to solve your problem is to buy a DAQ board that has analog inputs.

I did get this working, after all.  Eventually, I just went to the pinout of the board and wired things up properly from there.  It seems my 6036E DAQ board is good at recognizing channels, unless they're specifically named.  Thank you all for the help.

In other words, either you gave a wrong part number or the cross-reference that Elizabeth did was incorrect. Lesson to be learned, never use part numbers in a question.Smiley Wink

Just to clarify Jmarotta asked about analog I/O, which he is able to do since he is using the PCI-6036E.  It was Darmawan who provided the part number for the PCI-6601, which does not support analog I/O.  If there are further questions about this issue, please post back.
