Yup pretty much.
If your users are are technitions who understand MM/DD/YYYY then that's likely what you should show your users. Code for your audience, while also attempting to not dumb it down for them. Of course if the user never sees it, it doesn't matter as long as it meets your requirements, and meets your needs.
However if you are looking to get a string from a timestamp, you are welcome ot use the ISO standard, you can do this quite easily in LabVIEW.
