tektronix tds3000- acquisition fail

So the Front Panel shows: 1) He selected Channel 1 - (Most Oscilloscopes come with this option 😉 ) 2) Vertical Range is 10 V - May be a problem if scope is set to 50 Ohm, if it is set to 1M then should be okay 3) Time base - 4 ms/div or 4 ms total DAQ time, nothing extraordinary 4) Trigger - Set to Channel 1, seems plausible So I do not think he is missing extra options for his scope; these all seem like reasonable options that come standard with that scope. I would suggest that he check the GPIB address. I have the driver here and the screen shot are the default values in the driver. He should check the GPIB settings on his scope. Cheers, mcduff

The error from the scope does not indicate anything related to gpib settings from my point of view. Any problems with those should result in a VISA error. It's all guesswork on our part since the poster has not anything to tell us exactly when the scope generates the error.

Actually, i am trying with simple vi program I create. I have only used initialize.vi and then, errorquery.vi, errormessage.vi, close.vi. I have also displayed error message and error code. The error message is the same with error code 107400166. It is suggesting to check in website with that error code for third party error. It is displaying the same message no matteron what vi/subvi I am checking it.

hey mcduff,

The GPIB address that is seen GPIB::1::INSTR is the only one that came up when I connect the usb to computer, so I think it is the only GPIB address.

I suggest going to MAX with the scope attached, see if you can see it there. If so try opening a VISA test panel and communicating simple commands, such as *IDN?. Do you get the right response? Cheers, mcduff

Sorry but I am not getting you because I am very new to labview. How can I go to MAX? and IDN query I can do in initialize.vi right?

t is generating error, whenever I am trying to run any VI. I generally used to get errors in error box, but never in such seperate dalog box as shown in the screenshot. I always got program error, if any, in the error message.

Sorry, that I cannot write more, but I need to leave in a few minutes, but NI-MAX (Measurement & Automation Explorer) should be installed on your computer along with LabVIEW. When you open it up you will see a devices & interface on the left hand side. Click it and see if your scope is found there. Cheers, mcduff

Thank you for finally saying that the initialize function is the one causing the error from the scope. You can open the block diagram. You'll see that it does more than just send an idn? query but do that in MAX with the VISA interactive control and then query the scope for errors.

And now we know he actually is using his own VI.
