Hello,
I plan to install Thorlabs pro800/8000 VXIpnp Instrument driver for writing the program to controll the Thorlabs pro800 current source. However, it can not be installed because NI mDNSResponder 1.2 seems not to be incompatible with this driver. How can I do to solve this problem? Do I need to reinstall or anything else?

Hi,
I suggest taking a look at the following article:
It mentions that this issue might be fixed with downloading VISA 5.0.2 and later:
Might be worth a try!
Cheers,
Claire

Hi,
Looking at the image, the NI mDNS Responder 1.2 is part of the instrument driver installer (as well as NI-VISA 4.6.2), and doesn't like some software package that is already installed on your machine. Some kind of incompatibility.
Out of curiosity, what operating system are you installing the driver on? Reason I ask is I downloaded the same instrument driver on my Windows 10 machine and saw the exact same error as you. I think it may well be that the driver isn't supported on Windows 10.
Thanks

Hi
I also use Windows 10. But Thorlabs website said the system requirements are Windows™ 2000 with ServicePack 3 or later. Maybe they forgot to update their software to be compatible with Windows 10?...

Hi,
Yes, I saw that too. I had a look though at the readme for the driver (it's available on the same page where you download the driver), and it doesn't show Windows 10 as being supported. The thing is that I can install the driver fine if I just ignore those error messages, but I'm not sure if you would have full functionality from it. Maybe worth reaching out to Thorlaps about it if you want a definitive answer.
Thanks 🙂
