unable to view 'USB-6008' device under DAQ assistant.

hi

The USB-6008 DAQ is not being identified in DAQ assistant while creating a new task. DAQ assistant is in "INPUT" pallet. The same device is recognised and listed in MAX. Snapshots of the same has been attached with this message.

I wish to know
>why the device is not being recognised?
>How do I configure the Analog Input Channel?

Thanks

It has to be LV >= 7.0 for the (excellent) USB units to work.

hi

Thanks for replying. I'm using LabVIEW 7.1.1 Student edition along with NI-DAQmx 1.4, OS being Windows XP.

Hi,

This device uses the DAQmx Base driver. This is different then just the DAQmx driver. The DAQmx Base driver supports many products on different OSs. It also suppports many of our newer USB products. So, you do not have access to the DAQ assistant, since that is specific to DAQmx. Eventually, this device will be ported over to DAQmx, but I have no idea when that will happen.

For your other question, you should use one of the examples in the DAQmx Base folder. There are examples for AI, which is what you are looking for.

Have a Great Day!

thanks George for the information. jus learnt that this USB device is not supported by DAQ assistant. any task to be created should be done using DAQmx-base. This whole confusion was because I had used NI-6013 DAQ previously... thus I was trying to configure the channels in that fashion.
