uninstall labview 5.1

i have recently uninstalled labview 5.1 using the uninstall program, and followed by ashampoo winoptimizer suite after having problems with labview. for some reason whenever i install it, i experience big lags (of a few minutes) when starting up windows, and random crashes of my system including modem and soundcard problems. unfortunately, after uninstalling labview, i still get them problems, and i heard that the only way to cure it totally, is to completely reformat your harddrive. Please tell me this is not true! is there any way to removing ALL resources used by labview? I don't have a DAQ card on my pc and i am running WinME, which i guess is what is causing the problems. (id also be interested in finding out how to just install labview for cre
ating .vi files and not for any data acquisition applications) HEELLLLPPPP!!!!

The answer to your second question is easier. When you install LabVIEW, do a Custom Install and deselect the DAQ drivers. This way, none of that software will be installed with it. If you only want to create VIs which do not communicate with hardware, deselect all of the drivers when you install.

As for the first question, the suggestion to reformat the hard drive is the only way to make sure everything is clean. Now, there are other things to try first. This can be rather dangerous, but after uninstalling all of your NI products, you can go and remove all registry entries for them. ALWAYS make a backup of your registry before editing it. This is really the best thing you can do short of reformatting.
