upgrade to labview 2013 problems now with labview 8.6

Solved!

Upgraded to Labview 2013 a few days ago and part of the install changed my existing MAX from version 5.1 to version 5.5 with CAN 2.7.5.

Because all of my previous software has been wriiten in version 8.6 and customer requirements some of this cannot be changed and so I need 'backward compatablity'.

However checking the supported versions in CAN it only seems to go back as far as Labview version 10.0?

Worse still when I try and load any of the programs written in 8.6 with Labview 8.6 I now get 'cannot locate file' for the DAQMX such as

<vilib>  DAQMX \ Write.llb \ DAQMX \ Write.vi  etc

Tried browsing in folder called 'MAX'

Questions are:

Do I have to remove CAN and MAX and re-install earler versions to get compatablity with 8.6?

If so can this be done without removing my 8.6 install/2013 installs?

Yeah, the new versions of DAQmx are not compatible with LabVIEW 8.X.  You can just uninstall DAQmx and then install your older version to restore your 8.6 support, but you will lost the DAQmx support for 2013.

Well that's a master stroke!!!

well done Ni! must remember that one for my customers! (not)

Any idea how to do this without stripping out the 8.6 and 2013 install, because the only options I have insist on removing the programs requiring the support of MAX?

This is the main reason people use Virtual Machines.  Each VM has a different version of LabVIEW and drivers.
