usb-serial adaptor under vista 64bits, not recognise in Measurement & Automation eXplorer !!

hi all,

here is my problem. I bought a serial-usb adapter (TU-S9 from TrendNet, internal chipset from Prolific) because I want to control an instrument via RS-232 but my computer has any serial port. I run this under Vista 64 bits. I installed the last versions of Measurement & Automation eXplorer (MAX) and all the modules (NI-VISA, NI-SERIAL, etc.) BUT this port is not recognized in MAX. By using the windows hyperterminal, I can use this serial port but not with MAX !!!

I also tried under XP 32 bits, and every works fine.

so where does the problem come from ? vista ? 64 bits ? NI softwares and drivers ? serial-usb adapter ?

any suggestions ??

thanks

Cedric,

In this case its the usb-serial adapter that is likely the cause of the issue.  As mentioned in this KB it is likely that MAX doesn't know how to recognize the third-party adapter.  You may want to refer to this KB that talks about making VISA calls to third-party devices as it may be useful.
