using ascii commands in labview

Okay. I'm using a Liquid Crystal Controller that doesn't have a LabView driver. I can only use ASCII commands through a terminal.  Is there any way to send ascii commands through a terminal window in Labview? I'm trying to increase voltage through my VI system without having to use any system but LabView.  I'm using labview 8.6 I hope that makes sense.

Many of us make our bread and butter using the serial I/O.
