using sound card as a DAQ

Its 10% off of HW and 75% off of SW. Let me know if you need help selecting components or if you have spec questions. Something you could do is try to find someone with one of our USB-DAQ products...that way you could test it out and compare it to the sound card before buying.

Back to the sound card though...you could always do some SW signal conditioning in LV...filtering/normalization etc....may clean it up a little.

      I am doing a project relating to measure differentiate sound levels from a pump. Basic outline is, I would like use microphone sensor to listen pump(noise when sound pressure level greater than 80dB below than this be good). Then read the data through NI USB 6008 to labview and take the decision on noise. I think your previous work is similar this. Can you give some microphone sensors that can easily compatible with labview.
