My PLC is set as the Master in my comm manager in vbai.
It has also been suggested that I reinstall the camera image which I have also done.
It's odd that only a reboot from vb will resolve this.
Is there anything else that could be causing this?

Hi BAM787
Can you go into more detail as to your process? Are you also rebooting the PLC as well? Basically you cycle power on the smart camera and lose connection, do you than need to go and reset the device in VBAI in order to re-establish a connection?
Thank You

If power to the station is lost (PLC and camera), the camera boots up ok except tcp communications.
After boot, I open tcp port on PLC successfully but the camera does not respond. I must then
go into vb config mode and reboot target. After this, communications are fine.
When it's not communicating, the tcp server says it's running but I can't stop it from the communication
manager.
I'm using an Omron CJ PLC with CX-Programmer
Thanks

Hi BAM787
I will look further into this and see if I can find a work around, however since we are running Vision Builder for Automated Inspection it's entirely possible that a restart on the camera through VBAI may be necessary to reestablish the connection.

Even if there is a way that I can do this without having to connect with vbai it would help.
The problem is that plant technicians needs to bring a laptop to the cell and reboot through vbai which
incurs downtime

Hi Bam787
Two other things to check, first have you installed the latest patch 3.5.1? Also I wanted to confirm that you have your insepction application set to run on boot up.
3.5.1 patch:

Hi Eric,
Yes, I have installed 3.5.1 a couple times. Camera is also set up to open & run inspection on boot.
The inspection is open and running but no tcp comms until vb reboot.
Thanks

Hi BAM
Is it possible that the PLC boots slower than the 1742 smart camera? Try booting the smart camera after the PLC has fully initiated the TCP server.
Thank You
