After a fresh installation of LV2011sp1 vi's (including NI examples) run but
when I click any menu item, tool box or call up the block diagram; LV seems to
lockup. The vi continues to run but all menus and such are nonfunctional. I
am able to close the vi and get back to the "getting started" page, which is
functional.

Hello jlab15,
Are you encountering a Windows Not Responding problem? Are you seeing any error messages or codes displayed to the user? How are you closing the VI once LabVIEW hangs? Please post any screenshots that you think might be helpful for troubleshooting the issue.

I open the block diagram (ctrl + e). Make adjustments. Close (ctrl + w) block diagram. At this point I loose my control panel, the context help box and none of the dropdown menus function and since (ctrl + w) also doesn't work, I have to click "X" to close. Right clicking on anywhere on the front panel does nothing. I can't start or stop the Vi.
However, I am able to dbl click on a front panel componant and the block diagram comes up and is funtional; but only once. I can open the funtions pallet then but when I click on the FP things lockup and Im stuck with a running Vi with no way of controling it.

If you can't start or stop, how is it your VI ends up as running?
Any chance you are hitting Ctrl-R ? Or possibly Ctrl-M?

I can initialy start the program but after I open and close block diagram, that's when things go bad.

I mean start/run the "Vi".

Does it do this even on the simplest of VI's? Is it happening on a VI that has dll calls in it? Do you have any fast running while loop with no wait function that could be eating up all your processor cycles?
Assuming it is neither of these, I'd consider uninstalling/reinstalling LabVIEW. I haven't seen this happen before, and really haven't read any threads that discussed this type of problem before.

Thanks for responding.
Yea I've tried it with the simplest LV example I could find (Calculate Running Average.vi). Same crap.
I agree, it appears im faced with a reinstall.
Long live T. Suggs.
