vi profiler

Solved!

I've gotten a tutorial for using the VI Profiler Tool which I have not used so far. The tool looks very interesting and I might have a use for this tool.  I have the professional development package which does not seem to contain this tool so I am assuming that this is an add on tool.  The trouble is that when I search the NI site to find more information about the tool I get to a dead end: I cannot find where to buy or download this tool to use it.  Can anyone point me in the right direction?

There is Tools>Profile. If that is not there or not what you are talking about, describe what you actually saw and what it did.

The Profiler is in the Full and Pro packages.  I am not sure about the Base package. So you should have it.

According to my About LabVIEW popup display I have the LabVIEW Professional Development System.  But when I open up LabVIEW to the Getting Started menu and select Tools there is no Profile selection item available.  There is, however, an Instrumentation choice with an NI I/O Trace selection available.  Is that the VI profile tool that I am looking for? It does look a little bit like the tool, but I am not sure since I have never used this thing before.

Run your NI installer again. If you have the Pro package then you have the profiler tool available on the installation disks. Scroll down your choice of items to install and the Profiler is listed in the add-ons. Install it and you should be good to go.

I do not have a set of CDs to install LabVIEW.  I downloaded a downloader file "2011sp1LV-64bit_downloader.exe" and ran it to install the 64 bit version of LabVIEW that I now have on my machine. Are you tsaying that I should run this program again?  I don't remember the installer ever giving me a choice of which tools to install, but I may be wrong.  What you are saying would seem to be true if I had a set of CDs, but since I downloaded this installer utillty over the internet, I do not have a set of CDs.

I went back into the NI site and did some more checking around and found a list of all the items that I am licensed for with my professional development package and one of the things that I found was the vi profiler tool, and I then found this tool available through the NI downloads site after a little nosing around.  So it looks like all I half to do is download and install the tool.
