Problem Description :
I am using a laptop com 1 port trying to communicate with my HP34970A data
logger using the example vi called HP34970A ez scan example.vi. I get the
above error code. I have used the HP software (Benchlink) to communicate with
the datalogger but need to incorporate the data logger into my Labview application. I am using Labview 7.0

That error code means "VISA: (Hex 0xBFFF00A5) The interface type is valid, but the specified interface number is not configured." What is the VISA Reference name that you're using? Do you have Benchlink closed? You can open MAX and expand Devices and Interfaces. Expand the Ports listing. Your com port should be listed. you can also select the port and check the configuration.

I opened measurement explorer and com 1 wasn't in the tree. I added it and selected visa vs. windows. It works.
