The weird thing is it's not happening on every computer. They are all running
Windows XP with Runtime 8.5.1. I have reinstalled Runtime with no
success.
Does anyone know what could be wrong with the computer with Runtime or what
could be wrong with the original vi?

Hi Bob,
i mean the VISA runtime, not the LabVIEW runtime. Is it what you have installed?

it would be better if you create an installer using LabVIEW instead of just playing with EXE.
select labVIEW run time engine and VISA run time engine as additional installers while creating installer.......

It seems the VISA runtime is working for the two computers that were having problems. However it's strange to me that the other computer I'm running the same .exe it works without the VISA Runtime?
Thank you

VISA doesn't work if you haven't installed it! It's that simple.
If it works you have VISA installed, either independantly or as part of some other NI software such as the LabVIEW development system.
