vmware not fully recognizing USB-9213

Hi Paul:

You can get my email from your IT folks if you think emailing me directly can help.  I have version 2.6.0 of NI-PAL.  I have been trying to do the most minimal DAQmx upgrades, so I may well have left something important at too old a version.  The WinVISTA is Business version with Service Pack 2 installed.  As to anti-virus, I have McAfee Security Center (as supplied by VMWare) running, but I don't remember if I turned it off for installing upgrades or not.  I did have an installer freeze on one of my DAQmx upgrade attempts, so things did not go as smoothly as I would have wanted. There is an error showing in the Window Logs.  Does this help you figure out what I need to fix?  It looks like I never did get a good MAX database, in three tries or more.

[nidevldu] [[nidevldu]]  Fatal: p:\Measurements\Infrastructure\devld\trunk\1.12\source\nidevld\tDeviceLoader.cpp:271 - Could not connect to MXS. MAX configuration files may be corrupt!

Hello Bj,

From the error, it sounds like your data files are corrupt.  Try deleting both the Data folder and Data Dictionaries Folder (make sure you fully reboot after both are deleted) and see if you can't start NI Device Loader after that.  I will get your email from IT so I can send you the instructions on removing all NI software.

Regards,

Paul C.

Hi Paul:

Just to let you know, as you wait for my direct email, I have tried yet again to reset the MAX database by removing the Data and Data Dictionaries folders, but I still get the same story from device manager.  It starts, and 5-10 seconds later it stops.  The event log shows the same error as before about not being able to connect to the MAX database.  What else would I be able to do to get the database working?  Is there some adjustment to the Windows Registry that needs doing?
