wav stretch playback

I'd like to take a wav file, and adjust it's playback using a slider.  I'd like it to play at it's normal speed when the slider is at say 50,  but I'd like it to play twice as fast when it is at 100.  I'd like to be able to move the slidder in real time (as it's playing back.  Now I'd also like the wav to play half as slow if the slidder is at say 25.  How can I do this?  I can create this type of experiment with a sine wav.  but I'd like to do it with a .wav file.

Hello,

You can use an ActiveX Container in LabVIEW with the Windows Media Player ActiveX Control.  In this case, the attached example should allow you to slide the slider to change the video rate.

Hope this helps!

Thanks.  That's a big help.  Now, what if I wanted negative values to be played in reverse... (with the same -50 is same speed reverse and -100 twice as fast reverse...     Any ideas?  do you have a Winamp version?

Hello,

I don't know if that ActiveX control supports playing the video in reverse - I didn't see a property from the property node for that or a function (in an invoke node).  Are you trying other controls than Windows Media Player?

I'd like to be able to manipulate a wav, in forward and reverse, while varying it's rate of play.  This example is perfect for forward...  However I'd also like to be able to do the same function in reverse.

No I have not tried any other controls.  Do you know of any that might offer a reverse function?

Thank you for your time

Hello,

I don't know of any, but I did a preliminary search and it seems to be relatively common.  The real question in terms of integrating it into LabVIEW with an AcvtiveX control, is whether the control exposes a property or method for that feature.  Here is a list of video editing software I found; perhaps one of them has such a control:

I hope this helps!  Sorry the Media Player, or at least the ActiveX control, doesn't seem to expose such a feature!
