wiring connector pane

When 8.0 came out, it seems my old way of wiring the connector pane on a new VI changed. Whereas before I could click the conn pane terminal, click the control or indicator, then click the nect control or indicator, then the corresponding conn pane terminal. This back and forth fashion would associate two FP objects for me. Now I only seem to be able to gr from the conn pane then to an object but not the other way around.

Sorry for the lacking explanation but I hope someone knows what I am referring to.

Please tell me there is an ini file setting I can use to turn this restriction off!

I believe this behavior changed prior to 8.0. When the automatic tool selection mode was introduced, the only way to get the little wiring tool was to move the mouse over the connector pane. I don't think there is a way for the wiring tool to appear over a control or indicator with the automatic tool selection enabled but you can turn it off, select the wiring tool, and go back and forth like you used to.
