Beta version expired CVI 8.1

Hi,

I recently recieved the Labwindows/CVI 8.1 - I installed on my PC and it works fine.

I created few DLLs with it but when i am using these DLLs with TS 3.5 installed on a different machine I get the following message on top of the Standart output window "This beta version of Labwindows/CVI has expired".

It was working fine when i wrote my code on CVI 8.0.1

Any suggestions?

Hey Moshik,

If you go to Start>>Programs>>National Instruments>>NI License Manager, check what the status of the LabWindows/CVI 8.1 license is.  This should be indicated if you click the plus sign next to LabWindows/CVI 8.1 and then on Development Environment.  First of all, the heading underneath "Development Environment" should have a full green box.  Secondly, click on the version below (ex: Full Development System) and look at the status on the right.  What does that status say?

It seems like i have 2 copies of version 8.1 on my computer - I don't know why.....

Make sure you rebuild those DLLs after CVI has been activated.

If you did have the beta version of CVI on the system, you would have to uninstall it before you install the release version, just to be on the safe side.

Those two entries you saw in the License Manager are normal. It doesn't mean that you have two installations of CVI 8.1. Each installation includes two license files (hence, two entries), either of which might be activated depending on the serial number that you used. But we would not expect both to ever be activated (green) at the same time.

As Luis said, several products can be listed under the heading, but only one would be activated.  Just to let you know, I had those screenshots removed from the forum since they showed your serial number.

Did you try rebuilding the DLL's and/or uninstalling the Beta (if applicable) and reinstalling?

Hi,

First - thanks for removing the attachments...

There are few things i would to clarify before doing anything:

1. The previous version I had on my PC was 8.0.1 - is this the Beta version you refer to?
2. I have created a lot of DLLs in different projects - building them again might take some time and for the moment I would like to know if except for the shown message is there any other prolem it might cause?
3. The older version does not appear in the add/remove programs - how do I uninsatll it with doing any damage?

Hey Moshik,

What do you mean when you say the older version does not show up in Add/Remove Programs?  There should be a listing for National Instruments Software.  Once you click Change/Remove on that, it should give you the option to remove any previous version.  In any case, it does not sound like you had a beta version of our software.  That does not seem like it would be the issue (typically you would know for sure if you were using a beta version). 

In any case, I do think the best next step is to recompile the DLL's with the new version of CVI.  I understand that this might take some time, but it is really the best step to try and resolve the message.  Since this error message is unexpected, it's hard to foresee any potential problems, but it would not seem that it would cause any problems besides the message.  Maybe you could try just recompiling one DLL and then call it to see if you get a message.  Let us know if you still have issues.
