CVI Runtime Error on reinstall

I am getting a error when attempting to run an exe file associated with cvi.  The runtime engine seems to be required. In the win.ini file, the run time engine is missing. It is looking for c:\cvi\cvirt31.exe. I installed Labview CVI 5.01. I found no cvirtxx.exe file.

Please assist as quickly as you can as production is down.

Hello,

It seems you are using a very old version of CVI.  The only ways I know of to fix this issue are to:
1) Rebuild that exe from the source using CVI 5.0.1 that you have installed.  This will update it to point to the new cvirte.dll located in the Windows\System32 directory.
2) Find a machine that has the old CVI 3.1 on it and recopy all the necessary files over to your production machine.

If niether of these work I will need a lot more information to help you out.
 - What OS is this on?
 - What versionsof CVI are installed on that OS?
 - Do you have the source for this application anywhere?
 - What other NI pieces does this application use, DAQ, GPIB, etc.?
