CVI executables causes Access Violation 0xC0000005 on Windows 10 Anniversary Update.

Solved!
Go to solution

I am running NI LabWindows/CVI 2015 Service Pack 1  Full Development System 15.0.1 (239)  with Real-Time Module

Adding SetSystemAttribute(ATTR_TASKBAR_BUTTON_VISIBLE, 0);  as you suggested just before returning from my main function fixed the problem for me.  No need to delete any fonts (which is an ugly fix and I may need them from time to time).

This problem would show up only after I rebooted my PC (due to the never ending Windows updates).  Sometimes after running the CVI debugger, the crash (access Violation) on exit would go away on its own - but not always.  So far this works every time.

Thanks.

The taskbar button attribute, fonts deleting and so on are only workarounds that can or cannot fix the problem, as you say they fix it "not always". The real solution is to download and install the patches

Proud to use LW/CVI from 3.1 on.

While I'm proud to offer a workaround to your problem Smiley Happy, I have to agree with Roberto.
It's worth to invest some time to install the patches and forget about this bug.

All the versions and patches for CVI are in the CVI download page.
