CVI8.0 can not work with Clearcase while CVI6.0 can, with the same PC

When I use CVI6.0 and ClearCase 2003.06.10+. It works well (Checkin/Checkout). What I need to do is just type in a random string when create source code control project.
But when I switch to CVI8.0, when I try to create source code control project, it always popup "Unable to create source code control project".

I removed Visual source safe previously in my OS (Windows XP);
I re-installed CVI8.0;
I re-installed Clearcase
--- Still 8.0 does not work but 6.0 can.

I also tried on another computer which OS is Windows2000, the same thing happenned.
Can anybody tell me if I made mistake somewhere or this is a bug of CVI8.0?

Thanks in advance

Hi WD,

I believe you were working with an Applications Engineer on this issue. The last time I spoke to that engineer, I had requested to get some type of ClearClase log.  I am not to familiar with ClearCase, but with Perforce for example, a log can be generated that provides some helpful information. I would assume ClearCase has some of the same capabilities. This would allow us to get some idea of what's going on.  This is important because I believe you mentioned you were not seeing the "Source Code Control Error" window appear when you received that error. Nor did we get any ClearCase errors when we suppressed the CVI dialog.

Once you get that log, you can either post it on the discussion forums or send it to the Application Engineer you were working with and they can forward it to me.

Hi Jonathon,

Yes, it's me. Small world. Thanks to comment:

Does CVI have some dubug-log mode to have more log file, set by environment variable or something else?

Is that possible to have a specific dll to log more information for my clearcase activity?

Are you sure that CVI8.0 works with ClearCase well?

Is there fixed installation sequence? (CVI and ClearCase)

What is the difference between CVI6.0 ad CVI8.0 regards source control part? (because CVI6.0 works well)

I believe you have seen screen shot of my operation sequence, is there any improper action?

I just need to type in a random string to create source  code control project, right?

Sorry to have bothered you so much.

WD

Hi WD820,

In the screenshots you sent, you were entering the "tsm" name for the project. Was that the name of your VOB file or what? What happens if you give it an absolute file path? I am not too familiar with ClearCase (does it have projects or just VOB files)?

LabWindows/CVI is compatible with source code control providers using the Microsoft Source Code Control Interface (MSCCI).

The installation sequence should be the same as LabWindows/CVI 6.0.

LabWindows/CVI does not have a debug log capability built into it, so if you are not sure if ClearCase has one or not, you might need to ask your administrator to get more information.

Hello Jonathan,

Glad to here from you again.

"tsm" is my cvi project name which on the VOB (I also tried locally).

Random string is also tried.

Create an empty tsmcc.ini(to be different that cvi project name, checked it out. Then Create Source code control project or attached to it, failed.

Absolute path tried.

However, though I can not create or attach to source code control project, the <attach> button will be <change>, but nothing happen to those two text boxes above it.

Our clearcase administrator can not find any useful log file, too. 😞

I may have to convert CVI project to Visual C++.

Thanks anyway,

WD

Hi WD820,

We might have a DLL that could help you out some. Could you post your email address so we can take this issue offline and send you the DLL?

In fact, I only got a temporary solution.

That is: launch CVI6.0, create local source control project. Exit.

then launch CVI8.0, source control already there.
