Crash when pushing the [...] button

Solved!
Go to solution

I've had various random crashes when pushing the [...] button in the various function panels in CVI 9.0.1, but I haven't found a pattern until now.

1.  Open the function panel for SetCtrlAttribute
2.  For "Control Attribute", push the [...] button and select the "Format" item under "Format and Precision..." which is under "Control Settings".
3.  Now push the [...] button for "Attribute Value".  For me, this takes down CVI every time.

Thanks in advance for any help!  Hopefully there's a quick fix as I find this functionality extremely useful.

I could not duplicate your problem running CVI 9.0.1.  I can follow your steps with no crashes.  I tried it in existing projects I had as well as starting a new project.

Does it crash if you do it in a new project?

Create a new project.

Open a new .c file.

Open the function panel for SetCtrlAttribute and follow your steps.

Hello,

This is a known issue with CVI 9.0.1.  This link should resolve the issue for you.  Let me know if it does not.

Hi nick,

Is that patch required for all installations?

If no, then, isn't it strange for people having the same version (9.0.1) to have different cvi.dll's?

If yes, then I would expect it to be announced better than that?

I did not install 9.0.1 yet, so I don't know what will happen in my case.

Could I have a good start after installation and then have this problem after -say- a driver (or another) installation?

Thanks NickB for the link to the patch.  It resolved the problem.  I guess I did not manage to search with the right keywords to find it myself.

Hello ebalci -

Yes, unfortunately this bug will affect all CVI 9.0.1 users.  Because the bug does not affect the execution of user programs, and because the bug is mainly an inconvenience, we decided making the patch available through a KB would be best way to proceed in this circumstance.

However, we are aware that this is not an ideal solution, and are working towards providing a mechanism by which users can be notified in a non-obtrusive manner when fixes for issues such as these are available.
