Error messages at boot

I am getting a bunch of system error messages in the event viewer.  Some do not start because NI-PAL

The niarbk service depends on the NI-PAL Driver service which failed to start because of the following error:

A device attached to the system is not functioning.

This also occurs with nibffrk, nidaq32k.

Also, These fail to start because of a specified driver failed to start

nibdbgk, nimxdfk

And these got the following error message:

The nistck service depends on the nibffrk service which failed to start because of the following error:

The dependency service or group failed to start.

nistck, nimdsk

Finally, I got this error message as well:

The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:

NIPALK

I placed these services in manual and stopped them and that got rid of the problems with those.  We do not use these computers on a server or domain, so they do not need to be on.

NI Domain Service,

NI PSP Server Locator, and

NI Time Synchronization.

Now the only error I get is:

The cvintdrv service failed to start due to the following error:

The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.

It comes on shortly after bootup.  I have tried uninstall/reinstall.  Do not see any type of LV error messages or minidumps.  We are using LV RunTime 8.0, MAX 4.2.1.2001, NI-PAL 2.0.0, and Traditional NIDAQ 7.4.4f4.  It works with the other computers we use in the field, but only this computer and I think 1 other have the last error message.  I updated LV to 8.2.

Hello Stratatech,

What operating system are you working on these computers? Has this computer worked without errors before now and you just installed this software on this machine and get errors?

Also, you mentioned that you tried to uninstall and then reinstall. What specifically did you do this for? NI-PAL?

Also, you said in the last sentence of your post that you upgraded to LabVIEW 8.2. Did you upgrade the full application developement environment, or just the runtime engine? You will need to upgrade the environment. You will also want to make sure that after upgrading labview, you completely reinstalled ALL of the drivers. This will include support for each driver in the new version of LabVIEW as well as overwriting any previously corrupt installation.

Finally, were these driver updates installed from a DVD or from online?

We are running XP Pro.  I upgraded LV runtime to 8.2.  It works with errors.  I am not sure if the errors were there prior to me getting the computer to work on, but it has worked.  I received the computer with the errors on them.  The error was brought to my attention by my supervisor.  I did an uninstall/install to see if maybe it was missing drivers, and that was why there were errors.  The errors came back after the install.  Most went away when I disabled the server services for NI.  I used the NI program to update the LabView.  It did a search for updates and then started updating to 8.2.  Again, it was LV runtime engine.   We don't really use the LV, just MAX.  We use NI with 6023E and 6602 cards for encoders and counters.  I don't know where to get the drivers for everything.

Hi StrataTech,

Try installing the latest DAQmx driver to see if it repairs the corrupted files. If that does not resolve the errors, then please create a MAX Report and Kernel Memory Dump for review.
