Expired License

Solved!
Go to solution

I have a user who had installed LabWindows/CVI 8.1 as an eval edition and never set up the License Manager to point to our License Server. When the eval license expired, we tried to connect it to the server, but we cannot get it to run.

In the license manager, we can see the license server and we can see that there are licenses available (2 out of 6 are used). Below is the local eval license, which is marked as expired, with the red triangle. When he tries to start up LabWindows, he gets the following error.

Licensing Attempt 1:

All available licenses on "DLSWIN1:27010" are currently checked out. (NILM13)

Contact your license administrator if you have any questions.

Licensing Attempt 2:

The requested license is unavailable on this computer. (NILM16)

Any ideas?

Hi Brian,

It seems like the Volume License Manager (VLM) is unexpectedly showing that all licenses are checked out. You may need to troubleshoot the VLM server. Have you had a chance to go through the Troubleshooting NI Volume License Manager article? This should definitely point you in the right direction.

What would cause the License Manager to behave normally but cause the application to fail? The License manager sees the correct number of available licenses, but the application does not.

The computer name configured on the server was slightly different than what it was on the PC. Fixed the name and now everything works.
