Files don't always refresh when using the browse capability in a fileselectpopup

I am on a Sun Solaris system running CVI 5.0 (in Guam), using an xterm (in Virginia - yes, they are halfway around the world apart) to get to the system, and then running a CVI application on the xterm. When I select "Browse" in a fileselectpopup, I don't always get all the files in the directory.

I found a similar problem in the knowledge base, but for version 3.0., and I don't think I am necessarily dealing with the same problem.

I would suspect there is some latency with getting and displaying the information, but it can take several minutes, when it should probably take milliseconds (or perhaps seconds).

Somebody "thinks" they found a work around by "viewing the files via the oper
ating system, in the xterm, before attempting to view them using CVI". I haven't verified the work around.

Any ideas?

Hi Kris,

Is it possible for you to get a Sun System closer to you (i.e. in the same building) and try to connect to this machine? I would like to possibly eliminate the case of any unexpected latency. At least through this test you could see if there's already latency in your application, and by connecting halfway around the world, the latency becomes worse.

Jeremy,
That issue does not occur when I use a Sun located in the next room.

Ok so going back to the Virginia Sun box, do you see a similar latency when browsing using another application? I'm wondering if it's just a matter of the connection and speed between the two machines now, since we've ruled out that the issue is not necessarily related to the particular application. Also, we can find out if this is an issue with the way CVI handles the file browsing, or if it is your entire system that's lagging. If the former, we'll look into some more things, but if the latter, then there may not be much we can do.

Jeremy,
Unfortunately, we only have one application on the Sun written in CVI. It is simple enough to write another application, however, our CM process is the hurdle. I will have to go through another department to attempt to add another application. So, I'll have to get back with you on this one.
