IVI Driver (General Question)

Greetings,

Question on what you get when you install IVI instrument drivers. When we install instrument drivers, say AmetekACPwr or NI-DMM, the APIs are named after the instrument + functionality. When it is said, "IVI" compliant, does that mean the driver embodies all the IVI semantics and syntax, such as the 6 callbacks per attribute, state caching, etc. along with any low level calls to the HW (e.g. SCPI)?

According to the LabWindows/CVI 2012 help ( http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370051V-01/iddh/what_is_ivi/ ), IVI drivers comply with IVI foundation specifications found here, http://www.ivifoundation.org/specifications/ .
