The installer stop partway through with the following box
NI Update Service 2.0:
Error 1303. The installer hsd insufficient privileges to access this directory:
C:\Programs Files\(x86)\ National Instrument\Shared\Update Service. The
installation cannot continue. Log as administrator or contact your system administrator.
Allowed options are "Retry" and "Cancel".
Rety does nto work.
Logged in with admin rights. Also UAC is triggered for beginning of install.
Several other NI products installed including LV 10, LV10RT, CVI RT and many other (academic SSP).
Thanks in advance. Will try a reboot and reinstall but want to post with this error first.

Reboot fixed everything. Sorry for the false alarm.

Blakney,
Thanks for your post - I don't think it's a false alarm to receive an error message! Did I understood you correctly that you ran the installer as administrator and still got the message of insufficient privileges?
By the way, what would be the preferred procedure: first de-install CVI2010 and then install SP1 or directly install SP1?

I don't know about install order - CVI 2010 was previously installed.
The error MAY have been caused by the remnants of an"install" of CVI 2010 that happened due to a mixup on the downloaded file.
I was just trying to work through some debugging while I downloaded and probably wasted more time than just taking a break.

OK,
I can confirm now that installing SP1 over an existing CVI2010 on Windows 7 64 bit went smoothly.
