Is there anything in CVI Advanced Analysis to calculate power factor?

What tools in the CVI Advanced Analysis library do I need to use to calculate the power factor of an electric motor?

Hi,

There is no built-in function to calculate the power factor because this calculation will depend on the signals that you are acquiring. Foe example if you acquire the power on the line, the voltage and current, you can use the RMS functions to calculate the apparent power and get the power factor from those signals.

If you are reading just the current and voltage then you probably need to acquire the signals simultaneously, probably filter then out and calculate the phase difference.

So the short answer is there is no easy function but the tools are there for this measurement.

Juan Carlos
