LABVIEW OF GPIB CAN BE USED FOR RS 232

hi i am quite new in this field. i am working on room temp. AFM, i want  to use external amplifier and wave genertor(wavetek 395) with the current AFM setup, for getting the P-E hysteresis loop, but i have not the lab view program for that SETUP. so what should i do.

so i need  LABVIEW program for  that said setup.

another there is a GPIB (IEEE-488) and Rs 232 as an interface/ports for the wavetek 395. but GPIB-488 is not working. 

IS I NEED DIFFRENT SAMPLE CODE/PROGRAM AND DRIVER FOR EACH OF THESE OF THESE 2 INTERFACE/PORT??

CAN I GET THE SAME RESULT, BY USING CODE/PROGARM OF GPIB-488 FOR RS-232??

ANY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GPIB-488 AND GPIB-488.2??

NI GPIB-488.2 CODE SUPPORT GPIB IEEE-488 OF THE WAVETEK???
