McScript_InUse.exe - Application Error during CVI installation

I'm installing the Base Development System for LabWindows/CVI version 7.1 on a Windows 2000 system. After the second disk has been requested and the driver components and NI MAX is selected, I get the following error message:

McScript_InUse.exe - Application Error
(X) The exception privileged instruction (0xc0000096) occurred in the application at location 0x0041f550. Click OK to terminate the program.

The installation appears to be running fine behind this error screen. But after the installation completes, a reboot occurs, and Windows loads the drivers, NI MAX does not find any of the devices.

Hello,

The error you received in reference to the "McScript_InUse.exe - Application Error" is because of the "Network Associates McAfee" software on your computer. To fix the error if the MAX is not working properly, you should try reinstalling the NI_DAQ driver CD again but with McAfee turned off. The other option is updating the McAfee software, which are found at http://www.networkassociates.com/us/downloads/
