NI Update Service: communication problems

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi tobima,

We have servers all over the world, so I wouldn't expect your download rates to be slow just because you're in China, especially since both of the updates you mention are pretty small. Getting a log would be the most helpful thing to do. Then we can see if it's really a download problem or something else entirely. Please close NI Update Service, discard your current session, and run it again from the command line with -log, like described in my earlier post.

Thank you for your quick reply! I have now downloaded version 2.1.1 of the updater (using the download link you postet earlier) and tried to generate a log file, since I couldn't get it working with the old version. The interesting part about the log file is the following:

Maybe the cause of this problem is that I use a 64bit Win7 and the update is a 32bit update. Maybe. But then I wonder why the updater starts the download in the first place.

I tried to download the second update only. This lead to the same error. I have attached my logfile to this post..

Can I download the update(s) manually or could it be that I don't need them at all? I'm using DIAdem version 11.3.0f4563 TDM.

Well, it is pretty clear that the files fail to download. Unfortunately, I can't understand why. For a Windows 7 64-bit machine, Update Service should have permission to download to that location, the file path isn't too long, and it's not a partial download because Update Service never even gets to running a checksum on the downloaded file.

You can try downloading these updates manually from ni.com. The server path is the same whether you download from ni.com or through Update Service, so I'm curious to see if ni.com is successful. Here are the pages where you can get the two updates you've mentioned:

LV 2011 SP1 f2 RTE: http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/2897

Security Advisory 5Q5FJ4QW: http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/2698

DIAdem includes the LV Run-Time Engine, which both of these updates patch, but I don't know to what extent the patches affect DIAdem users. It would probably be good to get the patches. Hopefully the manual downloads are successful.

Hi,

I hope it is allowed to write a reply to this post, since it was marked as solved.

Unfortunatelly I see the same problem again, and I am not able to update my NI softs.

My system: Win7 64bit, fresh install of LabView 2012 Full version (SSP licence).

NI Update Service does not work, I tried to run it in Admin mode, also disableing Firewall, etc...

Here comes again the infamous error mssg.:  "An issue communicating with NI has occured...."

Here I paste the content of my log file, it shows error with "Errror updating Launch Condition Evaluator" . Regarding to the previous replies in this post, I thought this issue has been solved. But it looks like it is not...or something new?

For the reference, I have downloaded the newest version of Update service 2.2.1 from NI webpage.

Thanks for any help, I really need this update service,

Best Regards,
