Parallel port read

[CVI]

Is there a way to read parallel port in response to an Windows event generated by an external device ( microcontroller system) which is connected to port?
Can I use low level driver or something else?

I would suggest usign the VISA library in CVI. I believe that it has the capabilities that you are looking for. You can find more information about using VISA below:
