RS232 is a communication protocol. RS422 is an interface implementation on the same protocal. RS422 is normally a current loop with multidrop capabilities. From a software prespective, the commands you use in RS232 is the same as you use for RS422

You can buy any RS422 to RS232 convertor and connect that to a PC RS323 port, then connect from the convertor to your RS422 circuit and the issue standard RS232 commands from your software to communicate to your circuit.
