I have been using similar configurations for years now without major issues. Now I am running 2009, 2012 and 2015 versions on my PC and all works well.
Nevertheless, you must consider that you'll always have one single Run-time Engine installed (actually the most recent one) so if you want to distribute your applications to your customers it is better that you distribute the most recent RTE as well, since it is the one on which you have tested the program on your PC. If you are creating a distribution to deploy to your customer, CVI will do this for you.
