Run LabWindows under XPE?

Has anyone out there run a LabWindows executable in Windows XP Embedded?  Or another embeddable OS?

Hello,

So officially, every standard LabWindows/CVI library has been shown to work in the Windows XP Embedded environment.

Note:
  • We did not test the LabWindows/CVI application development environment itself. Only CVI-built executables and DLLs.
  • We did not create CVI-specific components that could be included in a XP Embedded image. This would not be feasible, since in order to deploy a CVI application, one needs to do more than simply copy files to specific locations. Other tasks are necessary including registering items and adding shortcuts. Instead, we created a distribution kit of the CVI applications we intended to test, and ran the installer directly on the Windows XP Embedded target.
  • We did not test driver libraries, such as NI-DAQ and NI-VISA. Only core LabWindows/CVI libraries. Other product groups will have to provide this documentation, if desired. We did include the CVI low-level support driver in the tests.

Hope that helps.

Wendy,

Thanks.  That is exactly the information I was looking for.

Wendy

What did you mean by 'We did not test driver libraries, such as NI-DAQ'

We have successfully deployed Ni-Motion applications using XP Embedded and CVi

This time I want to port an old legacy application developed using NI-DAQ 4.9.

What is the earliest version of NI-DAQ Legacy that will run under XP?

The earlier the version the smaller the version.

The target DAQ hardware is PCI-6032 (2 off).

Did you do any investigation into IEEE drivers. I don’t think they will be as programmatic.

Regards

Mike

Milke,

Wendy meant that we have not tested our drivers on XP Embedded. Unfortunately, we cannot suppot them on this operating system. If you get them to work, then great! The earliest version of Traditional NI-DAQ to work with XP is 6.9.2, available here.

Hope this helps,
