Trying to install CVI7.0, Windows 2000 IE6

I'm trying to install CVI7.0 onto a Windows 2000 PC but keep getting the message "LabWindows CVI requires IE 5 to function properly". I have installed Internet Explorer v6.0 on the PC and by passed the internet connection Wizard as the PC is not conected to the web.

Any thoughts, anyone.

Hello,

The CVI Installer does check for the IE Version to be greater than or equal to 500.  I do not know why there is an error if you have IE 6 on your machine.

Can you create a log file to see what IEVERSIONNUMERIC is set to by doing the following:
Go to Start>>Run
Drag the setup.exe from the CD to the run box.
Append -> /costlog /l*v "c:\instlog.txt"
Then run this. 

You should have the file c:\instalog.txt created on your machine.  Post it for me to look at so I might be able to solve your issue.

Hello,

It actaully looks like Microsoft's Windows Installer (MSI) Service is not running correctly on your machine. 

Can I ask you to do a few things to investigate?

• Reboot - After rebooting try running the instmsiw.exe from the support folder of the CVI installer CD, then reboot again.
  
• After this completes try running the CVI installer again with the logging from above.

What this is trying to do is fix MSI on your machine.  You actually should get some kind of error when running any MSI based installer on your machine in this condition since th Microsoft service is failing to start.
