UIR editor crash

Hello all,

I've just had 2 crashes when saving a UIR file after editing it. My changes were lost both times. First time I got a cryptic message that said something like 'wrong handle for control' and then the IDE crashed. 2nd time the whole thing crashed without message. Here's the error log.

Hi gdargaud,

Can you please include a screenshot of the error messages?

The log seems to indicate there is a licensing problem.  If you open the NI License Manager, does it indicate any problems with licensing for LabWindows/CVI?

Which version of LabWindows/CVI are you using?

What operating system are you using, and what type of OS is it (32/64 bit)?

Any additional information you can provide is appreciated.

Warm Regards,

I think there was something wrong in my NFS/Samba configuration on which the project was located. It's been going fine all morning. Will post if I still have problem.

As for the license, here's what I see in the license manager: the CVI 2010 base package says "30 days" but the Full Development System is activated. Do I have some kind of duplicate install of which I should remove the base package ?

Hi gdargaud,

The base package does not need to be uninstalled if you have activated the Full Development System.

Thanks,

Hi,

Looking at the log you posted, I think the other error messages are more likely the culprit of the crash than the licensing. What you have described about your licensing is normal. The other errors, may indicate a corrupt UIR file. Does this only occur with one UIR file? Could you post your UIR file for me to test with? You can send me a private message through the forums if you do not want to post it publicly.

Hi D_Biel,

I've posted about this before in a slightly different context: using VirtualBox shares, and someone at NI reproduced it. Here I was doing something not very bright: re-exporting an NFS import with Samba. It caused problems with UIR files and some other types of files. I simply did a CIFS import from the main server into my development virtual machine and all seems well now.

So it's not really a NI bug in the 1st place.
