I have a 3rd party PCIe development board that I have been succesfull at reading registers from using the 3rd party software PCI Tree. I am now trying to communicate with this device using NI-VISA. I have run the VISA Driver Wizard and created an INI and INF file for the driver. Once I assign this driver to the device in the Device Manager, it shows up as an NI-VISA PXI Device.

The settings are correct when I look at the properties for the device:
When I open NI-MAX, this device does NOT show up. I have refreshed MAX several times, and it still does not see any devices. I have also rebooted the computer and then re-opened MAX and refreshed, and still nothing.

My question is this: does NI VISA handle PCIe devices? What am I missing in the driver development wizard? Why won't MAX find this device when it shows up in the Device Manager under NI-VISA PXI devices?
Thank you for any prompt help you can provide.
PS -- i have attached the INI and INF files

Hi, C Gotsch.
Did you follow the Using the VISA Driver Development Wizard and NI-VISA DevZone? Tell me step-by-step exactly what you did.
You can also see all of your VISA devices in MAX by selecting Tools»NI-VISA»VISA Options, and then selecting Aliases under General Settings. Does the PCIe development board populate in the List of Resources and Aliases?

Thanks for your reply. I ended up doing a complete uninstall of all NI software on my PC and I started over and re-installed NI MAX -- and viola...everything worked fine. So, something must have gotten messed up with the software. Thanks,
