Vista question

Hello all,
I don't use Vista and don't plan to. I'm just curious to know if programs
built with the CVI 7 distribution kit in particular will install and run
properly ?

I've done exactly that a few times now and had no problems. (CVI 7.0) There may have been some initial complaint about unregistered software, but then Vista takes every opportunity to complain, anyway. Just ignored it and all went well.

Vista does a remarkable job of working with older software, once you have any hardware driver issues resolved.

Part of what makes it work is the "Virtual Store" which accomodates older software's tendency to expect write access to wherever it wants, be it system or program files folders.  I'd recommend this article as background so you can, if necessary, adopt development habits that respect the security model in Vista and beyond.

Ian, that link is not working for me - I'm getting a 404 on it. Could you check the address?

Sorry about that. Try this:

NI also has this generic page with a few more links to Vista articles:
