What is the best way to translate between CVI and LabVIEW?

I am looking for a way to translate from LabVIEW to LabWindows/CVI. Also interested in translating the other way.

Basically, to go from LabVIEW to CVI, you can build a DLL in LabVIEW 6i that CVI can call. To go from CVI to LabVIEW, you would build a instrument driver (FP) out of your functions, and use the instrument driver converter in LabVIEW.
