Why am I unable to include NI-Serial in an Installer?

Using LabWindows 8.1, I am setting up an Installer.  I am unable to locate the NI-Serial driver under the "Drivers and Components" tab.  the other drivers I need (NI-DCPOWER, NI_SWITCH) are there.  How do I include NI-Serial in my build kit?

Hi Chris,

Which version of NI-Serial do you have installed? Take a look in your Program Files\National Instruments\Shared\MDF\Manifests directory and look for an XML file that starts with "NI-Serial".  If you find one, please post it back to this thread.  If you don't find one that could indicate you're using an old version of NI-Serial that does not support redistribution, or some sort of installation/upgrade problem occurred.

Mert:

I am using NI-Serial 1.8 .  I am unable to attach it.  Apparently, the NI Forums do not allow .xml files.  if you could e-mail me, I will reply with the attachment.

You can just change the extension of the file to something like .jpg and attach it that way.

Thanks.

Chris,

It seems the version you have installed is not deployable.  You have version 1.8.0, which came from the standalone NI-Serial installer and was the last version that was not deployable.  An NI Driver CD that was released shortly after contained a minor revision of NI-Serial (1.8.1) which enabled deployment.

You can download and install the most recent version (3.3) of NI-Serial from our website.  Let me know if you have any concerns or problems.

Mert:

Version 3.3 worked as advertised.  Thanks for the help.
