To test a "full install" of our application, today I uninstalled our app, and then uninstalled the NI software. I did my test, and then realized I would have to reinstall LabWindows/CVI 2017 😉 D'oh.
I ran the installer and the f1 patch, as I have done many times in recent years, but this time I was greeted with this windows box:
For text search, here is what it says:
Program Compatibility Assistant
This module is blocked from loading into the Local Security Authority.
\Device\HarddiskVolume5\Program Files\National Instruments\Shared\mDNSResponder\nimdnsNSP.dll
For more information on why this module has been blocked, click 'Learn more'.
That link goes to: Device Security in the Windows Security App - Microsoft Support
After finishing the installer and restarting the PC and letting some updates install (the NI License Manager), things "appear" to work -- I can build and run our app.
But I do wonder what caused this box to start appearing. We just did an install back in December on a developer's machine and did not get it.

This seems like the most active post on this issue n a LabVIEW thread: Re: Local Security Authority LabView 2024 Q3, and the short version is that NI is working on it.
