change published labview file

Hi i have a published labview file. But i need to see how the protocol is implementet (a coworked that was fired and got mad, deleted everything except the published material from the server). Could anyone please guide me, what i'm especially interested is in it's communication via. rs-232.

I'm not absolutely sure, what you mean by published LabVIEW file. Could you please explain this? If you could also give me some details about your hardware and software, it would be a great help.
