bjasper,
To connect to a database using ODBC, you do have to use the LabWindows/CVI SQL Toolkit. You can evaluate the toolkit by installing the evaluation version here: http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/1006/lang/en . This is a full version of the toolkit, but the license expires after 30 days. If you want to purchase the software after or during the evaluation period, you will receive the disks and the serial number used to activate the unexpiring license file.

Eric:
What about using Microsoft MDAC and Windows SDK?
I haven't done it , but there is some discussion about it here.

Al,
That is good to note. I hadn't thought about using that method. You can definitely do that, but I haven't tried it myself. The toolkit provides examples and function panels for the functions, which the Windows DLL would not provide, but you can definitely try the MDAC option.
