how to upgrade from CVI 5.01 to 5.5

Whats the full procedure to upgrade from CVI 5.01 to 5.5?

I've got 5.01 installed on a machine under windows 2000. I downloaded both RTE updates rte5.5 and rte5.51. I've run both upgrades and both complete. I rebooted after each install. But the version (on the about screen) never updates. Registry still has the version listed as 501.

When I try to run the 5.5 patch, it fails since "5.5 is not installed".


Any ideas?

LabWindows/CVI 5.5 is not a free upgrade. It is a major upgrade include many, many new features. You can order an upgrade from CVI 5.0.1 to Measurement Studio 1.0 which includes CVI 5.5 form http://www.ni.com/upgrade. What you downloaded was just the new run-time engine for CVI 5.5 which CVI applications use when distributed. It's not an update to the developement environment.
