iviclass.ini doesn't include SpecAn

Hi,

I need to update an existing IVI SpecAn driver, which is only partially class-compliant.  I have LabWindows 6.0 on Windows XP.  I installed the IVI Compliance Package 3.0 (that's the version that works with LabWindows 6.0) to have access to IVI class driver stuff.

But when I try to add a class attribute to the driver, I get a message that my iviclass.ini file doesn't include a section for SpecAn. And that's true - it doesn't.  So how can I update this SpecAn driver?  How can I get an up-to-date iviclass.ini file?  (I tried adding the attribute as just another attribute, but the attribute name is reserved for class attributes.)

Hi,

I'm not sure if we're talking about the same thing.  The instrument driver wizard was used to create the driver, in the beginning.  I need to add attributes and methods, so I'm in LabWindows looking at my *.c file and using (I think ... I'm answering this from home)  Tools|Edit Attributes.

Is that considered the "instrument driver wizard"?

No. That would be the CVI Attribute Editor.  Can you send the files you are working with to instrument.drivers@ni.com to see if we can reproduce the issue?

No, sorry, I can't.  They're company proprietary.  And the problem is that my iviclass.ini really does not contain a section for SpecAn.  So I surmise that my IVI Compliance Package is the source of my problem, assuming that's where the iviclass.ini file comes from.  Should I try installing later IVI Compliance Packages even though they don't promise to support my LabWindows 6.0?

Hello B,
        Does this issue reproduce on a clean system on which you first install CVI 6.0 and then ICP 3.0?  If it does not, then you might be in luck, otherwise there is not much else that we can do to help you troubleshoot your current setup if you cannot send the code to NI.  Upgrading CVI would allow you to use the current version of ICP, and that has a good chance of resolving the issue.

I don't have a clean system available to try what you suggest.

And I don't have an upgrade possibility.

And I *will* be showing this thread to my supervisor!!!  He is aware and sympathetic, and will welcome the evidence to pass 'upwards' to try to get us closer to being up-to-date.
