Even without releasing FP windows, you can invoke a function panel using Ctrl+P shortcut. An open FP can be closed with Ctrl+W as all other windows in the IDE; use Ctrl+I to insert the function at the cursor position.

You are right, I did not know about Ctrl+W.

To close have always been using Ctrl+F4 that works only if the FP is floating.

Here a list of assigned shortcut keys: it's related to CVI 8.5. I don't know wether it's been modified in CVI9 or not. In any case, they can be reassigned with Options >> Change shortcut keys panel (which by the way lists a lot more options unassigned by default).

Proud to use LW/CVI from 3.1 on.
