I am using LabWindows/CVI 8.5. My system consists of Agilent DSO8064A, 8 Agilent DC power modules N67xx and 5 NI PXI intruments (5152, 4065, 6552, 2532, 5404). I use the latest version of the drivers for all of these instruments. All the drivers have a selftest function. My question is, what does this function actually do? I read the help file of the drivers and what I saw was that this function only checks if the intrument is powered up and responding. That means that this function actually tests the communication between the driver (pc) and the device. It doesn't give more information of the real operation of the instrument. Am I right? Is this behaviour the same for all the intruments or not?
thank you in advance

Hi gkots,
The self-test on all of our PXI modules is simply a check to verify the ID of the different modules with the ones registered in software on your computer. It also verifies that there is communication between the computer and the modules. So you are right in saying that this function does not give more information
