what is the difference between CVI FDS and Measurement Studio?

I'm confused as to just what the differences are between Measurement Studio and CVI FDS.

I thought Measurement Studio used to include CVI FDS, but it seems to me that is no longer true - Measurement Studio is half the price of CVI FDS, at least in the current versions offered.

Measurement Studio Enterprise Edition includes CVI FDS which costs $2499 (US)
CVI FDS includes Measurement Studio Enterprise which costs $2499 (US)

Maybe you were looking at the Professional Edition of Measurement Studio (i.e. which costs around half as much as the Enterprise Edition)?

Great question.  So there are two packages of CVI (Base and Full / FDS).  There are three packages of Measurement Studio (Standard, Professional and Enterprise).  The full featured version of CVI, CVI Full, includes a copy of Measurement Studio Enterprise, and likewise is true for Measurement Studio Enterprise.  Each of the packages are priced at $2499 USD.  So in reality, when you purchase CVI Full or Measurement Studio Enterprise, you are receiving a software bundle worth ~$5000 USD).

The next package up is Developer Suite which include additional cost savings since this bundle include CVI Full, Measurement Studio Enterprise, LabVIEW and multiple toolkits for all three environments.  I hope that helps clarify things a bit.

I glad you're all pleased with the CVI offering line up and that you're congratulating each other, but from my perspective it's a bit of a nightmare considering I'm trying to use a volume license server.

It sounds like there's no difference between CVI Full and Measurement Studio Enterprise Edition except for part number?

Would a license for Measurement Studio EE 8.1 and a license for CVI Full 8.5 then be essentially interchangeable?

Can I install Measurement Studio 8.1 EE on a system without Visual Studio, and still use the CVI Full?

I am sorry for the confusion.  I doubled-checked with our Sales department and the Measurement Studio EE does contain CVI FDS.  So yes, if you currently do not have Visual Studio and purchase Measurement Studio EE, you will be able to install and activate CVI FDS only if you wish.
